Drawer and Dressing Table Update (on a Budget) |
Hi! Remiza here. This time I want to share you how I upgrade my drawer in my room. Well, master room in my apartment is not that big that can fit a lot of furnitures there. I have queen bed, side table, wardrobe, study table, drawer and another small drawer. I, like many other young adult my age, can not effort to buy expensive interior design and furnitures for the first apartment. Since there is no more space to put vanity there and to save the budget as well, I turned my drawer into my dressing table as well.
I love IKEA Malm Chest of 4 Drawers White Color. I got it for 299 RM($71). With the dimension:
Width: 80 cm
Depth: 48 cm
Height: 100 cm
The reason why I got the 4 drawers, it because I have to save the space. This drawer is good enough to keep my extra stuffs like blanket, bedsheets, etc. I know, its too tall to be a dressing table. But I think it looks pretty fine for me :)
I got IKEA MALM Glass Top White Color as well for 59 RM($14). If you like to get the drawer, I recommended you to get the glass top as well as it gives a significant different to your drawer. Aside from it preserve your drawer from scratches or stains, etc, you will get a more elegant result from it as well.

My mirror has almost fit dimension with the drawer, it has 80 cm height and 90 cm width. So I upgraded my mirror from old and dull ivory white color wood frame into aluminium color frame with NOW Spray Paint I got it from ACE Hardware Shop for around 12 RM ($2.85). I like this spray, aside from the price is quite affordable for me, it gives good result as well. But if you could effort to pay more for the spray, I recommended you to go for better quality spray.
I separated the frame from the mirror before I painted them so then the paint will not tarnish the mirror. After it dried, I reassembled them again and placed them right upper my drawer.
For the decoration, I got the long glass for 5 RM ($1.2) and candle holder for 2.75 RM($0.65) from Parkson. I attached them together to get a tall vase. I placed a flower on it. I got it from Semua House in Jalan TAR for 12 RM ($2.85) only. So the glass and the candle holder turn into this vase.

For the tray, instead of spending for around 30 RM for a fancy tray, I got a photo frame with aluminium frame design from Daiso as much as 5.30 RM ($1.3). I printed out nice wallpaper in A4 size paper so then it fit exactly on the frame.

Not satisfied with that only, I upgraded the frame with the plastic tips for the feet which I got it from ACE Hardware Shop. The price is pretty good. I got mine for around 1-2 RM only. There are various selection there. You can choose any design that you like.

I used hot melt glue and glue gun to attached the plastic tips to the back side of the frame. After it completely dry, then I turned it and placed it on my drawer. If you still have budget, you can improve it by placing the handle as well. I didn't get the handle, since I didn't want to spend more than that.

I collected them from Pinterest. Those are some options that I wanted to use for my tray. Maybe I can use them later as well. Or you can make it by your self also using paint etc.
