Cover Box using Self-Adhesive Foil

I love container, basket, box, or anything that can be used to keep my stuffs in organise. Aside from useful they are quite pretty as well. I never be interested to spend for around 35 RM to get a nice basket. Isn't it over price?? But thats the price here in Malaysia. If you like to get nice box or basket, you need to spend around 30 RM and above for each basket. Each??? Well....It's really over price and I don't know why we have to spend a lot to organise our house. 

I love to try to make things by myself, try some new ideas with stunning result and less budget. I always like to create something that can reduce the clutter in my house. I am sure we all hate to see things everywhere and unorganised. So instead of spending a lot to buy baskets and boxes to organise your stuffs, try this easy project first and you won't interested to purchase new boxes any more. What you need is only box in any size which you could get it freely. I came up with idea of using self-adhesive foil to cover the box. This is pretty cool way to cover your ugly box to get more gorgeous basket. Moreover, it doesn't require a lot of time. If you are interested to know, lets go ahead.  

Cover Box using Self-Adhesive Foil

Materials:

- Boxes
- Self Adhesive Foils. I used 3 adhesive foils (45 cm x 2 meters), which can be used to cover 5-6 A4 sized boxes
- Paper (optional)
- Glue / spray adhesive (optional)
- Cutter / Scissor
- Ruler
- Pencil / Pen / Marker

Directions:

Step1: Prepare some boxes that you want to cover with adhesive foils. It can be any boxes in any size that you like. I used A4 Paper boxes since it has a good shape so I can wrap the adhesive foil directly without cutting some parts of the boxes and more over it comes together with the lid.

Step2: I did not use the adhesive foil for all part of inside of the box. I used A4 paper to cover inside of the box on the bottom and a little on the side. I prepared 1 paper for the bottom, 2 papers (I divided into 2 equal size) for the sides of the inside box.

Step 3: Fold the papers as shown in image below. Those folded paper will be used to cover the lower inside of the box.

Step 4: Cut the small part of the paper as marked below, so then you can fold it neatly inside the box.

Step 5: Glue inside the box and place the folded paper on each side. After all the sides covered with paper, glue A4 paper to cover the bottom. I used multi-purpose glue from Elmer's. U can use spray adhesive as well.

Step 6: Prepare your adhesive foil. I got 3 rolls of self adhesive foils from Mr. DIY Store for 3.50 RM each roll. The dimension of each roll is 45 cm x 2 meters. I like the color of this adhesive foil that I chose. It looks clean and elegant and give the feeling of expensive design. So what you need to do is to measure the adhesive foils in accordance with the size of the box and cut it. 

Step 7: Begin to place the adhesive foil right side down and place your box on it, arrange it accordingly so then the distance is equal. Start to cover the outside of the box first and continue to cover inside of the box until you cover 3/4 of the paper inside the box. Do it slowly, because the beleaguered air will make the surface uneven. Try to smooth out the bubble. 

Step 8: This is how I fold the adhesive foil in triangular cut. Completely cut the inside adhesive foil with the same size of the triangle and cut the outside adhesive foil slightly larger so then you can fold it inside.

Your looking expensive box covered with self-adhesive foil is ready. I am pretty happy with the result.
